Leading Computing in a Primary School
This course is designed for those leading computing in a school and will be delivered over three online sessions; each online session last two hours. The course is delivered over a few weeks to allow for actions to be followed up. Throughout each one of the webinars there will be opportunities to reflect on own practices and add actions to an improvement plan for Computing.
This course is delivered over three webinar sessions, attendance to all three sessions are required.
Webinar 1 - Accountability of the role for leading computing in a primary school. A deep dive approach into evaluating the provision of computing as a discrete and cross-curricular subject.
Webinar 2 - Curriculum development, planning and progression. Includes coverage of the national curriculum objectives and how these are used to devise a consolidating and progressive curriculum across the key stages. Other factors around staff subject knowledge, access to resources and assessment of learning will also be discussed.
Webinar 3 - Safeguarding and Online Safety. Understanding the statutory online safety responsibilities and provision of online safety education. Reflecting on national benchmarks in the area of online safety in schools.

This course will be delivered via a webinar
Is an online safety self-review tool, that is a great way to celebrate your strengths and to identify areas for improvement and is intended to help schools review their online safety policy and practice. Even if you chose not to see the process through to the end and gain the 360 Degree Safe Online Safety accreditation, engaging in the process to prioritise and improve whole school online safety will be of huge benefit to all stakeholder.
Our consultants are accredited 360 Degree Safe Online Safety Mark assessors and conduct assessments as directed by SWGfL. They will use their expert knowledge of the tool and online safety to support key members of staff to get started with the tool 360SRT, engaging in professional discussions around the elements of the tool, to make a self-evaluation judgement.
